6th Form Lecture - East Belfast Mission

On the morning of Wednesday 25th September Grosvenor welcomed Mark Sweeney, Director of Congregational Development at East Belfast Mission, to speak to over 300 members of its 6th form regarding his work as well as opportunities to volunteer within his organization.

Each year the School runs its Voluntary Service programme where 6th form pupils are given the opportunity to spend their Wednesday afternoons volunteering in local Schools, Charities or Organisations.  Mr Sweeney’s talk proved highly worthwhile and will no doubt have encouraged many of the School’s Sixth Formers to volunteer at East Belfast Mission over the coming year.

‘East Belfast Mission’, founded in 1985 and based on the Newtownards Road, is a community organisation which engages in community development and service in inner East Belfast.  The School would like to thank Mr Sweeney for taking the time to come and speak to its pupils and wishes both he and his colleagues the best of luck in their continued work within the local community.
