AS Psychology Conference at Q.U.B.

On Wednesday the 26th April a number of the School’s Year Thirteen AS Psychology students were afforded the opportunity to attend a conference at Queen's University Belfast, organised by Chris Gibbons - Chairperson of the Association of Psychology Teachers in Northern Ireland.

The event was designed to give pupils a thorough revision experience of all the course content covered in the new AQA AS Level Psychology syllabus. Throughout the day there were a series of lectures on the core areas of the specification, including: attachment, social influences, abnormality and approaches to psychology, cognitive psychology and research methods.

There were also helpful revision strategies provided from a former Principal Examiner with AQA and leading textbook author, Julia Willerton, while pupils even had the opportunity to win prizes if they answered questions correctly!

With Psychology becoming an increasingly popular subject and course content becoming more intensive, such a day was invaluable to the  pupils in attendance. Many thanks to Q.U.B. for running such a worthwhile event, as well as GGS Head of Social Sciences Mr Smyth and fellow Psychology teacher Miss Knox who accompanied the pupils on the day.

We look forward to the benefits of this course being reflected come the publication of AS examination results this August.
