Annual German Immersion Event

On Monday 3rd April Grosvenor’s highly proactive German department held its annual Immersion event as all of its A Level students, in years thirteen and fourteen, benefitted from the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of educational and highly worthwhile activities aimed at improving their language skills.

This year’s event, hosted by Head of German Mrs Dorman, fellow German teacher Mr Cowan and this year’s German Assistant Sarah Sarcletti, saw students engage in a number of ice breaker games which involved some fantastic renditions of “das rote Pferd”, before partaking in some intensive speed dating, followed by a spot of role playing as pupils assumed the roles of villager in a remote German village in which an open air concert was due to be held.

Finally pupils worked in small groups to practise voicing their opinions on a wide range of controversial subjects such as “Geld macht sexy”?? Following this, the evening concluded with a most enjoyable dinner at ‘Wolfes Burgers’ in Dundonald, which provided the perfect conclusion to a busy but highly enjoyable day which received a positive response from all of the participating pupils.

Many thanks to Mrs Dorman and her fellow department members who effectively organised a highly enjoyable and beneficial itinerary for the pupils involved, as well as the students themselves whose enthusiastic attitude towards the day helped to ensure its success – we now look forward, with confidence, to such events contributing towards a successful set of grades come the publication of A Level results this August.
