Annual Girls Football Festival 2018

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s female footballers who performed commendably at the annual Girls Football Festival, held at Mallusk Playing Fields on Wednesday 13th June.

The event, which attracted over 1000 participants from years 8 – 11, featured four competing squads from Grosvenor – one from each of the eligible year groups – each made up of twenty players. The GGS Year Ten team was the most successful of its representatives on the day, finishing as runners-up despite the high standard of the competition in their keenly-contested category.

A number of awards were distributed ‘in-house’ for the ‘Player of the Tournament’ within each GGS team, which were received by Casey Robinson, Year Eight; Lucy Simpson, Year Nine; Darragh McCullough, Year Ten and Sasha Clare, Year Eleven.

In addition, a number of impressive performances were also produced by Eva Wainwright, Year Eight; Olivia Marshall, Year Nine; Grace McKimm, Year Ten and Tara Montgomery-Allison, Year Eleven.

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s pupils who performed so well on the day, and many thanks to teachers Mrs McIlvenny, Mrs Hunter, Mr Winters and Mr Johnston, without whose involvement the girls’ participation would not have been possible.
