Annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols @ St. Anne's Cathedral

The evening of Tuesday 15th December saw Grosvenor stage its annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at St. Anne’s Cathedral, attended by hundreds of pupils, parents, past pupils and associates of the school.

As always those present were treated to a selection of impressive performances from the School’s Choiristers, including renditions of such festive favourites as ‘O Holy Night’, featuring soloist Emily Campbell, as well as, amongst others,  ‘Candlelight Carol’, ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ and ‘Tomorrow shall be my Dancing Day’.

The music provided by the Choir, conducted by Head of Music Miss Rosemary Foster, provided the perfect backdrop to an evening of worship which also saw pupils in Forms 1 - 5, as well as Head Girl Olivia Cullen, Head Boy Stuart Graham, the School’s Principal Dr. Frances Vasey and The Dean of Belfast, The Very Reverend John Mann, deliver the Nine Lessons telling of Jesus’ birth. In addition The Bishop of Connor the Rt. Reverend Alan Abernethy, himself a former pupil of the School, officiated at the Service while refreshments were kindly provided at the rear of the Cathedral by the School’s Home Economics Department following its conclusion.

The School's Carol Service is undoubtedly the highlight of an extremely busy festive period for its much in-demand Music department; congratulations to everybody within and associated with Grosvenor who helped to make Tuesday’s event such an enjoyable, entertaining and festive occasion.
