Annual Talent Show 2014

On the evening of Thursday 27th November the School staged its annual Talent Show as fourteen accomplished acts from Forms One to Upper Sixth took to the stage in the William Moles Hall to entertain the paying audience of pupils, parents and associates of the school.

With teachers Mr Winters, Mr White, Mr Cowan, Mr Brittain and Miss McDowell acting as judges the audience was treated to a series of impressive and entertaining performances from acts such as Anna Cousins and Sarah Whittle, performing ‘Stay’ by Sam Smith, Emily Woods with her rendition of ‘Love Runs Out’ by One Republic and Zuzi Meszarosova’s ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse.

Following the conclusion of the final performance, however, the judges were left to decide on their nominees for the final audience vote, which eventually saw Upper Sixth pupils Nathan Kirk and Jenna McCready attain third place for their delivery of ‘My Man’ by Barbara Streisand, Matthew Hedley and previous winner Zara Holmes, also both Upper Sixth, place second for their performance of ‘We’re Looking Up’, and second former Caolan Donaghy achieve first place for his performance, on acoustic guitar, of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Small Bump’.

As if the fourteen performing acts did not provide enough entertainment themselves, the audience was also treated towards the end of the evening to a performance of ‘Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers by the staff band, comprising Mr McCallan, Mr Gibson, Miss Harte and Mr Flanagan, as well as a sing-along rendition of ‘Let it Go’ from ‘Frozen’!

Well done to all of the acts who performed so well on the evening, as well as staff member Miss Linda Knox, whose diligent coordination of the event helped to ensure its success.

We look forward to celebrating further talent within the school over the remainder of the year.
