Antrim Sixes Hockey Tournament 2013

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s boys’ and girls’ hockey teams which each performed admirably at the annual Antrim Sixes Hockey Tournament, held at The Antrim Forum on Saturday 11th May.

In the boys’ event Grosvenor’s Under 18 squad achieved victories over South Antrim and Wellington College Belfast in the group stage, ensuring safe passage to the semi final of the competition despite a 2-0 loss to Kilkeel in their final group game.  In the semi final itself the team performed courageously before eventually losing to a strong Antrim Grammar side which went on to secure overall victory in the competition.

The event was particularly significant as it marked the final participation in Grosvenor colours from David Allison and Alistair Courtney, each of whom have represented the School with distinction over the past seven years.

In the girls’ event, meanwhile, Grosvenor’s Under 14s competed admirably in the Under 15 age-group, securing two wins and a draw, whilst also suffering two losses on their way to a commendable third place finish overall.

Well done to all of the pupils and staff members who attended the event on Saturday, as well as the numerous parents who helped with transport and provided valuable support throughout.

We look forward to reading of further Hockey successes when the new season commences in September.
