AS Drama and Theatre Studies Visit

On the evening of Thursday 5th November Grosvenor’s AS Drama and Theatre Stusies students made the journey to Belfast’s Lyric Theatre where they attended the Decadent Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of ‘Vernon God Little'. This challenging production allowed the students to explore and evaluate different aspects of physical theatre, enabling them to complete their AS Drama and Theatre Studies coursework.

The production’s mix of raucous comedy and sharp satire focused on the alienation of the teenage mind, struggling to make sense of the superficialities which obsess the modern media and the insular world of small town America. For some of the students, ‘Vernon God Little’ was their first experience of live theatre, which proved to be a stirring initiation into the world of Drama.

Many thanks to Grosvenor’s Drama teacher Mrs Orla Young whose organisation of the entire trip made it possible; we now look forward to Grosvenor’s own Drama students putting the practical skills to good use when they tread the boards later in the year.
