Aviva Irish Schools’ Athletics Championships

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor’s star athletes who achieved success at the Aviva Irish Schools’ Athletics Championships in Tullamare on Saturday 2nd June.

Standout performers on the day included Deputy Head Boy Robby Rankin, who finished an impressive 2nd in the Senior Boys’ 2000 metre Steeplechase with a time of 6 minutes, 11.53 seconds, as well as the Senior Girls’ 4x100 metre relay team of Holly Dornan, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Muirhead and Anna Lockhart, who also secured silver in a time of 50.49 seconds.

Elsewhere notable performances came from the Senior Boys’ 4x100 metre relay team of Shane Johnston, Steven Kirk, Paul Kennedy and Ben Coard, who placed 4th in their event, as well as Intermediate 800 metre runner Andrew Wright (4th:  1minute 58.11 seconds), Intermediate Triple Jumper Matthew Hedley (4th:  12.38 metres) and Junior 100 metre sprinter Adam Wilson (5th:  11.72 seconds). 

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s standout athletes who not only achieved great success in qualifying for the Irish Championships, but also deserve much credit for their commendable performances at the fiercely contested event.
