Belfast East Rotary Club Young Writer Competition

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Emily Gregg, Form One, who recently attained first place in the highly prestigious ‘Belfast East Rotary Club Young Writer Competition’.

Emily’s achievement came following the submission of her entry, entitled ‘Light up our Community’ at the end of last year, whilst still a pupil at Braniel Primary School. Emily’s piece focused on the story of a man named George who, after falling victim to an assault from a group of teenagers, successfully campaigns at his local Community Centre for an increased number of street lights within the area.

Following the submission of her story Emily was announced as the overall winner of the competition at the prestigious District Final, which featured entries from all over Ireland. Emily was informed of her success at the end of June and invited to attend a glittering awards ceremony, along with her mother, at the Stormont Hotel on Tuesday 30th September, where she received a certificate and a cheque for £100 from Sir William Hastings.

Well done to Emily on her outstanding achievement which bodes extremely well for her next seven years at Grosvenor!
