Belfast School’s Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor’s talented cross-country runners who achieved success at the Belfast City Council Cross Country Championships 2013, held at Ormeau Park earlier in the month.

In the girls’ events the School’s Form One team of Hannah James, Victoria Wylie, Victoria Catterson, Claire McKane, Sophie Larmour, Jasmine Chambers and Megan Bell ran impressively to help the team achieve third place overall.  This feat was also equalled by the second form team, helped in no small part by the superb 3rd place finish of Anna Stanfield, while the third formers went one better by placing 2nd overall, with Sophie Rea leading the placings by also finishing in 3rd.

On the boys’ side the School’s second form team achieved a runners-up placing, with Aston Edmond claiming an individual bronze medal, while both the Junior and Minor teams were also placed second overall.

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s courageous runners who performed admirably in horrendous condition on the day.  The extremely muddy ground made conditions treacherous underfoot, but it is a credit to each of the Grosvenor competitors that the School managed to achieve a string of impressive team results.

We look forward to many of Grosvenor’s talented athletes transferring their abilities onto the track over the months to come.
