Blackboard Teaching Awards 2014

Congratulations to Grosvenor teacher Mrs Amanda Salt and former teacher Mr Derek Moore who were both recognized at the third annual ‘Blackboard Teaching Awards’, held at Riddell Hall, Stranmillis on the evening of Thursday 4th December.

The awards ceremony is held annually to recognize the achievements of Principals, Teachers and Classroom Assistants from both Primary and Secondary Schools within Belfast, with Head of Spanish Mrs Salt and former Head of I.C.T. Mr Moore, who retired last June following thirty six years on Grosvenor’s teaching staff, acknowledged amongst forty overall honourees at this year’s ceremony.

Educationalists from a range of Belfast Schools were among those listed and honoured this year.  The award categories included: ‘Excellence in Irish Medium Education’, ‘TotalMobile ICT Teacher of the Year’, ‘NASUWT Cross Community Champion’, ‘O’Neill’s Best Achievement in Sport’ and ‘Danske Bank Primary School Principal of the Year’.  The audience on the evening was addressed by Professor Margaret Topping from the School of Modern Languages at Q.U.B. and Dr Gabrielle Nig Uidhir, Principal Lecturer at St Mary’s University College.

Well done to Mrs Salt and Mr Moore on their nominations for this year’s event, which recognised the outstanding standard of teaching and learning that they have each been responsible for within Grosvenor over the past number of years; the school is most proud of their success and looks forward to celebrating further achievements from its teaching staff over the months and years to come.
