Boys' Hockey Results

Well done to Grosvenor’s boys’ hockey teams which have produced a number of notable performances over recent weeks.

On Saturday 5th October all of Grosvenor’s teams travelled to Cookstown High School, one of the elite hockey schools within Northern Ireland, where the 1st XI suffered a credible 4-0 defeat and the Under 13s put up a brave effort to finish as 3-1 losers.  Perhaps the highlight of the day, however, was the performance of the School’s Under 14 side which came back from 3-1 down to achieve a 3-3 draw thanks to late goals Samuel Brittain and Judah McNaughton.  Given the stength of the opposition this was a superb result.

In addition Saturday 12th October saw the 1sts lose 3-1 to, again, a very strong Friends’ School Lisburn side, with Grosvenor’s goal coming from Michael Purdy.  Elsewhere the gallant Under 14s fell to a 2-0 defeat but made the opposition work hard for their victory, with goalkeeper Ben Bond earning particular plaudits from the onlooking coaches.

Given the high standard of opposition faced on each of the past two Saturdays, Grosvenor’s teams, coached by Mr Young and Mr Brittain, can take plenty of encouragement from their extremely credible performances.
