Boys’ Hockey Under 14 Talent Development Programme

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Jed McLelland, form two, who was recently selected as a member of Ulster Hockey’s ‘Goalkeeper Talent Development Programme’ following a rigorous trial, conducted at Lisnargarvey Hockey Club on Saturday 13th June.

During the trial goalkeeper Jed was required to move around various stations where he was tested on shot stopping, kicking the ball clear, mobility, strength and reaction speed, following which he was informed of his selection onto the prestigious programme.

Jed’s participation within the programme will involve intensive coaching at the University of Ulster Jordanstown over the summer period, followed by a second stint in October. Both coaching series’ will be invaluable to Jed, as well as to next year's Under 14 team in Grosvenor, where he has been an ever present figure in goals for the past two seasons.

Well done to Jed on his selection, as well as to Grosvenor coaches Mr Young and Mr Brittain, without whose expert coaching he would not have developed so well during his time at GGS. We wish Jed the best of luck in his training with the Development squad over the coming months as well as in his performances for Grosvenor throughout next season.
