Brian Kennedy ‘Children in Need’ Visit

On Friday 9th November Grosvenor Grammar School welcomed singer-songwriter Brian Kennedy to its Music Department in preparation for its Junior Choir’s participation during this year’s ‘Children in Need’ television broadcast on the evening of Friday 16th November.

Grosvenor’s choristers, along with those from Lagan College and Lumen Christi College, will represent Northern Ireland as part of a UK-wide Choir that will perform along with Aled Jones when a live link-up is broadcast this Friday evening.  The event, at which Grosvenor’s Choir will perform live from BBC Blackstaff Studios in Belfast, will see viewers treated to a rendition of ‘Bridge Over troubled Water’ by Simon and Garfunkel, as well as a medley of ‘Queen’ hits.

Brian Kennedy’s visit came after he was chosen as the regional celebrity to visit each of the three participating Schools in order to film scenes that will be broadcast during the ‘Children in Need Northern Ireland’ programme on Saturday 17th November.  In the case of Grosvenor Mr Kennedy’s selection was particularly appropriate given that he is perhaps best known for his recordings and performances with world-renowned singer-songwriter Van Morrison who grew up locally.

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Choir on achieving selection to perform on such a prestigious occasion - we will all be glued to our television screens this Friday evening to see them perform to the high standard to which have become accustomed.
