BPW Public Speaking Competition

On the evening of Thursday 22nd November three of Grosvenor’s budding Public Speakers made their way to the Newforge Country Club in Belfast where they competed in the annual BPW (Business and Professional Women) Public Speaking Competition.

The event saw Upper 6th pupil and Head Girl Anna Cullen take on the role of Chairperson while Lower 6th pupils Ross Neill and Ellie Neill participated as Speaker and Expressor of Thanks respectively.

Female competitors on the evening were required to make their speeches on an unseen topic, while Ross' speech was a superb piece on the subject of academic selection – made all the more impressive as he was competing in his first ever public speaking competition.

Despite receiving excellent feedback from the judges Grosvenor's team, accompanied on the night by Ms Cheryl Lynch, just missed out on first place, with R.B.A.I. and Friends’ School Lisburn, who each shared the title, prevailing out of the eight competing Schools.

Congratulations to Grosvenor on its impressive performance at this event and we wish its many public speakers the best of luck in the various competitions that they will also be competing at throughout the year.
