CCEA Summer 2016 ‘Top Achievers’ Success

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor pupils who were recently announced by CCEA as having placed within the top three candidates in Northern Ireland in selected subjects at GCSE and GCE (A Level) during the summer 2016 public examinations.

At GCSE Level Claire Sullivan, who achieved an outstanding 11 A*s in her examinations overall, was the pick of the School’s elite performers, achieving a string of outstanding results which included first place in English Literature, under the tutelage of Miss Linda Knoxjoint first in Biology, with the help of her teacher Mrs Heather Reid; second position in Chemistry under the direction of Dr Sarah Elliott and joint third place in Physics with the aid of her teacher Miss Sandra Harte. What is more Claire’s achievements are made all the more remarkable when bearing in mind that she was also placed first in Learning for Life and Work - an examination which she sat at the end of Year Eleven under the direction of her teacher Mr Andrew White - during the summer 2015 examination series: this means that, in total, she has been placed in an incredible and unprecedented five of her GCSE subjects in total.

Elsewhere a number of the School’s other elite performers also followed Claire’s lead with placings in a range of subjects: at GCSE Level, once again, Eva Wardlow was this time placed first in Music, with the help of her teacher Mr Jonathan Arnold, while Abbey Walker was positioned third in A2 Sports Science under the direction of Mr Andrew Gibson, a feat equaled by fellow A2 student Susannah Ashfield in Biology, under the tutelage of Mrs Janet Auld.

Well done to all four of Grosvenor’s elite performers from last summer’s public examinations; we wish the best of luck to Claire and Eva, both now in Year Thirteen, as they commence their ‘A’ Level studies, and to Susannah and Abbey as they embark on their University careers - at Trinity College, Cambridge, to study Medicine, and at Queen’s University, to read Law - respectively.
