Chamber Choir – BBC Radio Ulster Performance

On the morning of Friday 8th March Grosvenor’s Chamber Choir was delighted to accept an offer to perform as part of BBC Radio Ulster’s ‘Good Morning Ulster’ breakfast broadcast.

The choir, accompanied by Miss Rosemary Foster and Mr Jonathan Arnold, received its invitation to perform in light of its selection to compete in the final, televised stages of the BBC’s ‘Songs of Praise' School Choir of The Year Competition, filming for which took place over the following two days in Liverpool.

The choir sang out the broadcast with a rendition of ‘Be Thou my Vision’ – one of the pieces which helped gain them to selection for the ‘Songs of Praise’ final, just before 9am.

The Choir’s performance on Radio Ulster came just weeks after the School’s Senior Choir also took part in filming for another BBC broadcast – this time the ‘Songs of Praise’ St. Patrick’s Day broadcast from Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.  During this recording the choir sang a piece entitled ‘The Prayer of St. Patrick’, by John Rutter, along with the Belfast Philharmonic Choir and Ulster Orchestra.

Well done to the School’s Senior and Chamber Choirs on their recent exploits and we look forward to viewing the latter in performance in the final stages of the ‘Songs of Praise’ Choir of the Year competition over three Sunday nights in April.
