Champion Cheerleading Achievements!

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Alysha Andrews, Year Eleven, who has been excelling in the field of cheerleading of late.

Alysha, who is a cheerleader for the Belfast Giants ice hockey team, trains in Bangor three times a week and has been cheerleading since the age of seven. She has been a member of the Belfast Giants’ cheerleading squad for the past four years and performs at three home games per season – on stage as the team plays.

Elsewhere Alysha has enjoyed great success in a number of cheerleading contests of late, placing first in the South of Ireland in the ‘Future Cheerleading’ competition, as well as first in Northern Ireland in the UKCA (United Kingdom Cheerleading Association) contest and, most impressively, second in Europe in the ECA (European Cheerleading Association) event. In addition, Alysha was a member of the group that attended the European Championships in the Netherlands from 30th June to 1st July this year, securing a place at the World Championships in Florida, although, unfortunately, the squad was unable to take up its place as the girls were unable to raise the necessary funds in time.

Well done to Alysha on her incredible exploits in the cheerleading arena and we wish her the best of luck as she continues her efforts in this endeavor over the months and years to come.
