‘Chest, Heart and Stroke Association’ Visit

On Wednesday 7th November Grosvenor welcomed Mrs Maureen McCourt from the ‘Chest, Heart and Stroke Association’ to speak to its 4th Form GCSE students on the issue of how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Throughout the morning Maureen educated those in attendance on the different causes, risks and ways of prevent life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks and strokes; whether putting them through their paces with some brisk exercises to get their hearts pumping, or showing them the difference between a smoker’s lung and a non-smoker’s lung, Maureen certainly gave everybody plenty to think about.  What she said made everyone consider their diets and question how well they control their lifestyle.

Maureen herself is an excellent example of how to live a healthy life, having completed an incredible 62 marathons and counting despite being well into her sixties. Part of Maureen’s job is to visit schools all over the country and raise awareness of diseases affecting the lungs, heart and brain.  The pupils of Grosvenor are very fortunate that she was able to take time out of her busy schedule to come and speak to them.

Many thanks to Maureen and the ‘Chest, Heart and Stroke Association’ for taking the time to visit the School and deliver such an interesting and educational talk.

We look forward to welcoming Maureen back to the School soon.
