Chinese Visit from Pudong Education Board

During the weeks beginning Monday 15th and 22nd October Grosvenor played host to a delegation of six visiting teachers from the Pudong Education Board, China as part of an initiative organised by ‘International House Belfast’.

The visit, which saw a different set of teachers visit the School during each of the two weeks, provided an opportunity for the travelling teachers to witness, at first hand, education as delivered within the classroom in Grosvenor, exposing them to many educational features with which they may not have been aware, and offering them the opportunity to witness good practice that they can make use of back in their own schools.

The visits are part of an exciting initiative which has seen International House Belfast quickly develop worthwhile educational links between schools in Northern Ireland and China.  The potential exists for a reciprocal trip to Shanghai, where students score the highest in the world in Mathematics, Reading and Writing, while the Chongqing Jiulongpo Education Board, Shanghai, has also made a request to visit Schools in Northern Ireland.

‘International House Belfast’ is a private language school which is part of the ‘International House World Organisation’ and, as well as organizing the Pudong programmes, is also delivering teacher training in Kazakhstan, Turkey and Oman.

Many thanks to International House Belfast for organizing the recent visit of Chinese teachers to Grosvenor, as well as to the entire School community which helped to make these teachers feel so welcome during their stay.
