County Down District Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor’s talented cross-country runners whose performances at the Co. Down Championships, held at Delamont Country Park on Thursday 30th January, have earned them participation at the upcoming Ulster Schools’ Championships.

In the Minor Boys’ category Andrew Hagen was placed fifth while Aston Edmond and Aaron Harrison finished 4th and 5th respectively in the Junior Boys’ event.  In addition Katie Allen’s 12th place in the Senior Girls’ competition, as well as Sophie Rea’s 14th in the Intermediate Girls’ race, also earned them entry to the Ulster Schools’ event.

Perhaps the highlight of the day, however, was the performance of Deputy Head Boy Andrew Wright, who defeated a highly talented field to emerge as winner of the Senior Boys’ race, followed closely by Lower 6th pupil Paul Pruzina in 4th position

Well done to each of Grosvenor’s participants on their performances in what were horrendous conditions on the day – we now wish them the best of luck at the Ulster School’s Championships, which will be held at Mallusk Playing Fields on Tuesday 11th February.
