Cricket - Mourne Cup Success

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Under 13 cricket team which secured an impressive victory over Ballyclare High School in the second round of the Mourne Cup on Thursday 16th May.

Having won the toss and opted to bat Ballyclare recovered from the loss of early wickets to post a respectable total of 66 for 6 off the allotted twenty overs, with Joss McConkey (3-14) and Matthew Neill (2-7) the pick of the bowlers.

Despite Ballyclare’s recovery with the bat, however, Grosvenor’s batsmen set about their run chance with confidence and, in truth, always looked like achieving their target comfortably.  Despite the eventual loss of four wickets middle order batsmen McConkey and Neill saw the team over the finish line following some good work earlier in the innings from Euan Renfrew (12), Andrew Lindsay (16) and Patrick McGonigle (13).

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s players who performed so well on the day – they now await the winners of R.B.A.I. versus Cambpell ‘B’s in the third round.
