Cycling - Nations’ Cup 2013

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Daniel Stewart who was recently selected to compete as a member of the Ireland team in cycling’s prestigious Nations Cup.

The event, which is effectively cycling’s version of the World Cup, is an Under 23 competition with a lower age limit of 18, meaning that Upper 6th pupil Daniel was the youngest competing member of the Irish team.

The competition was staged over three races – The Tour of Flanders in Belgium, the Côte de Picarde in France, and Holland’s ZLM Tour.

In total Daniel was fortunate enough to compete in two of the three races – the Tour of Flanders and the ZLM Tour.  Each of the races were between 170 and 180 kilometres in length and featured fields of competitors made up almost exclusively of full time professionals.

Well done to Daniel on competing so well against such a high-class field.
