D.S.A. (Dwarf Sports Association) UK National Championships 2019

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Jonathan McLaughlin, Year Nine, who enjoyed superb success at the recent D.S.A. (Dwarf Sports Association) UK National Championships 2019.

The annual event, which features athletes from as far afield as Australia, Denmark, New Zealand, Russia and India and was this year held in Birmingham from 3rd – 6th May, saw Jonny pick up an incredible ten medals in total – three gold, five silver and two bronze: a truly phenomenal feat.

Jonny’s gold medal haul came, on the track, in the 4x 60 metres sprint relay and the javelin and, in the pool, in the 25 metre breastroke. His silver medals, meanwhile, were accrued in the 40 and 60 metre sprints and the discuss, as well as in the hockey six-aside tournament and cycling time-trials, while his bronze medals came in football (five-aside) and badminton singles.

This is the second year in a row that Jonny has enjoyed such success at the D.S.A. Championships, having secured eight medals at last year’s event. Well done to Jonny on such impressive, sustained success and we wish him the best of luck in his future sporting endeavours throughout the summer.
