District Cross Country Championships 2019

Congratulations to a number of Grosvenor’s talented cross country athletes who performed with distinction at the recent District Championships, held in the grounds of the ‘Billy Neill Centre of Excellence’ at the end of January.

In the boys’ events Grosvenor’s star performer, as ever, was Year Eleven pupil Dylan McBride – Ulster Champion in each of the past two years – who this time secured first place in the Inter Boys category; an achievement made all the more remarkable given that he was competing primarily against runners a year older than himself. In addition, individual qualification for the upcoming Ulster Schools’ Championships was secured in the Mini Boys category by Finn Cross (3rd) and Zac Anderson (6th), as well as by Joel Harrison (13th) in the Senior Boys event.

In addition, in the team competitions qualification for the Ulster Championships was secured by the Minor Boys team, thanks to impressive performances from Josh Ness (3rd) and Jake Seaton (8th), as well as Adam Scott (33rd), Omar Simones (34th) and Ben Robinson (35th). In the Mini Girls’ category, meanwhile, qualification was also achieved thanks to excellent performances from Erin Cross (3rd) and Liberty Molloy (11th), as well as Jade Archer (23rd), Sophie Tinman (60th), Rhian Weatherup (66th) and Lucy Storey (69th).

Well done to all of Grosvenor’s athletes who performed so well on the day; we now wish our GGS qualifiers the best of luck as they look ahead to the prestigious Ulster Schools’ Championships, which will be held at Mallusk Playing Fields on Wednesday 13th February.
