Engineers Week 2014

On Wednesday 12th February twenty five of Grosvenor’s Form Four G.C.S.E. Technology and Design students, accompanied by Mr Taggart and Mrs Black, made the short trip to the ‘George Best Belfast City Airport’ to attend an information day entitled ‘Engineering and the Aviation Industry’.

The event, organised by Engineers Ireland as part of ‘Engineers’ Week 2014’, was aimed at giving students an insight into the aviation industry and how different engineering disciplines feature within it.

For the majority of the day students attended a series of presentations by the likes of Belfast City Airport Capital Project Engineer Conor McConville, ‘National Air Traffic Services’ and ‘Bombardier’, each of whom provided information on their organization, its role and how they apply their engineering knowledge, as well as their career pathway, before concluding with a tour of the Airport itself.

Many thanks to ‘Engineers’ Ireland’, as well as all at the City Airport who helped to make the event so informative, engaging and worthwhile.
