European Piano Teachers’ Association UK Piano Competition 2015

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Ryan Simpson, Lower Sixth, who achieved remarkable success over the half-term break by attaining selection to compete in the National Final of the EPTA (UK) Piano Competition 2015 - to be held in London on Saturday 14th March - in the Advanced II category.

Ryan’s selection for the National Final of this prestigious competition comes following victory in the initial stage of the contest, held in Belfast at the beginning of February, and then in the subsequent Regional Final, held in London’s Convey Hall on Saturday 21st February, featuring pianists from around the UK who, like Ryan, had been victorious in their respective home areas.

Ryan’s victorious performance in the Regional Competition also saw the adjudicator put him through to the National Finals next month - particularly impressive given that, while the adjudicator ranks each competitor based on their performance, they are under no obligation to put any competitor through to the final unless they feel that they are of the required standard.

In addition to Ryan’s forthcoming performance at the National Final in March he has also been invited to perform in a free public concert featuring young pianists from all over Ireland on 9th May – another remarkable achievement and one of which he should be incredibly proud.

Well done to Ryan on his recent piano-related successes and we wish him the best of luck at the EPTA National Final next month.
