European Under 18 Sevens Girls’ Rugby Tournament

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Erin Caughey, Upper 6th, who has been selected to represent Ireland at the forthcoming European Under 18s Sevens Tournament, due to be held in Sweden in from 12th – 15th September.

The tournament will see Ireland, ranked fourth for the event, compete against Belgium, Germany and France in the pool stage before their hoped-for participation in the knockout stages.

Erin’s selection as a member of Ireland’s twelve person-strong squad comes after her attendance at a number of screening sessions and trials, during which numerous cuts were made following several training camps.  Erin was eventually chosen to participate in a 25-strong squad in Dublin throughout the summer before achieving final selection at the beginning of September, following completion of a training programme and several fitness tests.

Congratulations to Erin on her selection, from over 250 initial hopefuls, to compete as at this weekend’s event; all at Grosvenor wish her the best of luck at the competition and throughout the remainder of the season.
