F.O.G. Sponsored Walk

On Friday 16 June lessons came to a temporary halt as the School staged its inaugural ‘Friends of Grosvenor’ sponsored walk, with over six hundred pupils from years eight - eleven, as well as the majority of the teaching staff, participating.

Working in partnership with the Connswater Greenway project, the participating pupils enjoyed a challenging nine mile walk along the Greenway from the Knock Road to Titanic Quarter; with the route, there and back, taking in local landmarks such as Orangefield and Dixon Park, the Hollow, Avoniel Park, C.S. Lewis Square, Victoria Park and the Airport Road to Titanic.

Pupils were set a target of raising £10 each for the initiative, with funds raised being donated to Friends of Grosvenor, which continues to support the School with extra- curricular activities and opportunities year-upon-year.

The money raised from the walk will help to fund much needed extra-curricular activities within the school and, although a final total has not yet been announced, it is hoped that it will be enough for the School to invest heavily in many of its popular and well-supported activities. The tutor group which raises the most money from the walk will be rewarded with a DVD afternoon on Friday 23rd June while individual pupils who raise the highest totals will be recognised during the end-of-term assembly on Friday 30th June.

Many thanks to F.O.G., along with vice-principal Mr Brunt, for organising such a worthwhile endeavor and hopefully we will now see it become an annual event in the GGS calendar.
