Form Four Biology Field Trips 2014

On Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th June each of Grosvenor’s Form Four Biology students, totalling over 140, participated in the department’s annual field trip to Crawfordsburn Country Park to complete investigations and activities relating to their GCSE studies.

During the trips, which saw half of the year group attend on each day, pupils broke into groups where they sampled plant species using a line transect, estimated a daisy population, collected insects from long grass and trees, investigated river pollution and partook in some pond dipping!

All of the activities related to the Ecology section of the GCSE Biology Specification and, to this end, proved highly worthwhile.

Many thanks to all of the members of the Biology Department, led by Mrs Janet Auld, whose organisation of the trips made them possible and ensured that they ran so successfully.
