Peatlands Park Geography Field Trip

During the week beginning Monday 8th October Grosvenor’s Form Three pupils received the opportunity to visit Peatlands Park near Dungannon as part of their study of Peatlands and Bogs within Geography.

During the course of the day pupils were educated on the subject of peatlands and bogs in the Park’s Information Centre before getting the chance to venture out onto the bog itself to carry out a number of fieldwork activities; such as comparing sections of previously cut bog with those that had been untouched, and identifying various water creatures within a nearby pond.

In all this year’s expeditions to Peatlands Park proved worthwhile as ever, with pupils adding to their knowledge in Geography by witnessing important features of a bog at first hand.

Many thanks to the various staff members who made these series of trips possible by giving freely of their time throughout the week.
