Form Two Athletics – County Down District Semi-Final

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s Form Two girls' athletics team which performed admirably in the semi-final of the Year Nine County Down District Championships earlier in the month.

Over the course of the day a number of commendable performances were recorded, with Sophie Larmour placing second in the 100 metres with a time of 13.7 seconds, Louise McAnea achieving the runners-up position in the shot with a distance of 7.69 metres and Claire McKane finishing 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 3.81 metres.

In addition, the team’s 4x100 metre relay quartet achieved second place with a time of 56.5 seconds while High Jumper Kirsty McMillan (4th, 1.25 metres) and 800 metre runner Victoria Wylie (5th, 2 mins 47.4 secs) also picked up valuable points for the team.

The team's performances were enough to secure the it 3rd place overall, thus ensuring qualification for the County Down District Final, which will be held at the Mary Peters Track later in May – all at Grosvenor wish the team the best of luck at this event.
