Form Two District Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s boys’ and girls’ athletics teams which achieved victory at the area heat of the Form Two District Athletics Championships, held in Bangor on Wednesday 8th May. 

In the girls’ events notable performances included Anna Stanfield’s first place in the High Jump with a leap of 1.30 metres, Lauren Irvine’s victory in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.12 metres and the 4 x 100 metre relay team’s win with a time of 57.1 seconds.

On the boys’ side, meanwhile, Nathan Chan broke the School record with a distance of 5.16 metres to achieve victory in the long jump, a feat equalled by Aston Edmond in the 1500 metres, while Jake Laverty finished first in the shot put and Ben Stevenson achieved a second place finish in the 100 metres.

The top four teams from each district are granted qualification for the next stage of the competition, which will take place at The Mary Peters’ Track at the end of May – all at Grosvenor wish its boys’ and girls’ teams the best of luck at this event.
