Friends of Grosvenor Table Quiz 2015

On the evening of Thursday 15th October the School's ever-active Friends of Grosvenor organisation hosted an enjoyable and keenly-contested table quiz, open to all pupils, staff members, parents and associates of the school, held in Lecture Dance.

The event, which saw Mrs Lesley Wilson take on the role of Quiz Mistress and fellow F.O.G memners Linda MacDuff and Mel Walker serve as markers, saw a total of seven teams battle it out over nine different rounds, namely: Belfast, General Knowledge, Sport, Aliases, Geography, General Knowledge, History, Pictures and Famous First Lines. Each round featured ten questions in total (eight in the picture round), with twenty points available for the final round.

Participants on the evening also had the option of playing their ‘Joker’ at any point except during the Picture round, which would enable their team to double their score for that given round.

Of the seven competing teams two were neck-and-neck throughout before ‘Sparkle Ponies Ride Again’, a team led by GGS’s own Mr. Winters, eventually pulled clear, ahead of ‘The Determinators’ in second. For the record, ‘I Can’t Say That’, a team comprising Sixth Formers: Andrew Welsh, Andrew Ross, Matthew Dane, Ali McCreery, Matthew Thomson, Dylan Little and Ryan Betts, plus fellow member Adam Ross, finished second last in the competition.

The evening, which featured a tuck shop during the interval following round four, also saw Upper Sixth pupil Emily Harman win the raffle, drawn following the quiz itself, while Mrs Wilson, in her final year as a F.O.G. member, was recogised for her outstanding service to the organisation over the past number of years through the presentation of a bouquet of flowers at the end of the night.

Many thanks to all who organized and/or attended the event, helping to make it such an overwhelming success; we look forward to many further F.O.G. fundraising events throughout the remainder of the year.
