Generation Innovation ‘Create 2015’ Conference

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Gareth Reid, Upper Sixth, who recently took on the role of Managing Director at the prestigious ‘Create 2015’ Technical and Creative Conference, held in Derry/Londonderry’s ‘Playhouse’ Theatre on Thursday 17th September.

The event, hosted by BBC Click’s Kate Russell and featuring speakers such as ‘Codordojo’ founder James Whelan, ‘Mojang’ Chief Executive Vu Bui and ‘Bewbot’ C.E.O. Chris McClelland, as well as four hands-on workshops, is an entirely youth-led event for ‘CultureTECH’ which aims to inspire those destined to work in the digital and creative industries.

Gareth’s role in organizing the event was to head up a six-person team, selected from the Northern Ireland Science Park CONNECT’s ‘Generation Innovation’ initiative, which was required to not only put the entire event programme together, but also to raise financial backing from both local and international companies through a range of sponsorship packages.

‘Generation Innovation’, which also features former Grosvenor pupils Matthew Carson and Jordan Earle – both members of last year’s Upper Sixth - aims to inspire young people to create their own future by fostering innovative thinking as entrepreneurs. For Gareth to have led a team of such talented and inventive young people in putting together this year’s highly successful event is a huge credit to him and we wish now him the best of luck in his future ‘Generation Innovation’ related initiatives, as well as in his A2 studies at Grosvenor throughout the remainder of this year.
