German Exchange – ‘Away Leg’ 2019

At the end of March Grosvenor’s ever-proactive German department participated in the return leg of its annual, ever-popular Exchange initiative with its long-established German partner School, ‘Evangelisches Gymnasium’ in Lippstadt.

Having travelled to Lippstadt in September to participate in the ‘Away Leg’ of the initiative, Grosvenor’s thirty participating pupils this time hosted their exchange partners, participating in a range of educational, fun and engaging activities throughout the week.

Monday 25th March saw participating pupils visit the Titanic Centre before enjoying a Bus Tour around Belfast, accompanied by a Blue Badge Guide, before they departed for an enjoyable visit to the Giant’s Causeway on Tuesday 26th. On Wednesday 27th pupils spent most of the day in classes but were afforded the option of attending Grosvenor’s ever-popular Spring Concert in the evening, before Thursday and Friday were spent attending Clearsky Adventure Centre, at Castle Ward, as well as the Ulster Museum, prior to the departure of the visiting pupils on Saturday 30th.

Many thanks to Grosvenor’s Head of German Mrs Fiona Dorman, whose continued diligence in organising and coordinating the initiative, which is now running for its twenty-first year, helps to maintain its success. In addition, thanks is also extended to fellow German teachers Mrs Elwood and Mr Cowan, without whose support this year’s trips would not have been able to run.

We look forward to this incredibly successful initiative continuing for many years to come, and look forward to following its progress during the next academic year and beyond.
