German Film Day

On the morning of Tuesday 9th October a number of the School’s A Level German students, accompanied by Head of Department Mrs Fiona Dorman, made the short journey to attend a Film Day at the Queen’s Film Theatre.

The event, organised by the Northern Ireland Centre for International Language Teaching (NICILT), saw pupils treated a showing of the film “Sophie Scholl:  The Last Days”, which provides an account of the last days of 21 year-old student Sophie Scholl, who was the most influential member of the German anti-Nazi resistance movement “The White Rose”.

The film provided pupils with with an interesting insight into the history of the period and proved a highly worthwhile and engaging experience.

Many thanks to Mrs Dorman for organising this most educational and enjoyable trip.
