GGS inaugural May Ball

On Friday 4th May Grosvenor staged one of the highlights of its 2017-2018 calendar when its inaugural May Ball, held in the impressive surroundings of Belfast’s Titanic Centre, took place in order to raise money for extra-curricular sport within the School.

The evening was a tremendous success, with over £6,000 being raised and donations still continuing to roll in. Approximately 170 people attended on the night and were greeted by the melodious sound of the School’s esteemed String Quintet, comprising pupils Sarah Myles, Anna Stanfield, Lucy Hamilton, Tyler Smith and Karl Kirkpatrick, and conducted as always by Grosvenor’s highly dedicated Head of Music Miss Rosemary Foster.

Whilst guests enjoyed a top class five course meal, they also were given the opportunity to bid in an auction to win three outstanding prizes: a hospitality experience at a Manchester City match, a ten day trip to Capetown and a t-shirt signed by Usain Bolt! The celebration didn’t end there, however, as guests later took to the dance floor to boogie-in the start of the bank holiday weekend!

Many thanks to everybody at the Titanic Centre who helped to make Grosvenor’s first May Ball such an overwhelming success, as well as the School’s Head of Sports Studies Mr Andrew Gibson, along with his fellow department members, who invested so much time into promoting and organising the occasion: everybody who attended on the night cannot fail to have been impressed by the hospitality on offer and let’s hope that it is the first of many such fundraising events, to sustain and feed such a worthwhile cause as the promotion of extracurricular sports, within GGS over the years to come.
