Gideons Visit

On Thursday 9th October the School was delighted to welcome Alan Templeton from ‘Gideons International’ to the School to speak to its Form One year group during its weekly Year Assembly.

Mr Templeton spoke about the work of the Gideons before providing each member of Form One with their own personalised copy of the Bible. The Gideons was formed in Wisconsin USA in 1899 and places Bibles free of charge in many places such as schools, hospitals, hotels and prisons, believing that it is important for everyone to have access to the word of God.

At present the Gideons distribute Bibles in 182 countries – with a million copies given out every eleven days.  They feel everyone should have access to a Bible when they are in need of guidance or comfort.

Many thanks to Mr Templeton for taking the time to visit the School, as well as to the Gideons for providing the Bibles which the pupils were generously given on the day.
