Girls' Area Tag Rugby Tournament

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s girls’ tag rugby team which secured victory in the area section of the Ulster Schools’ Cup on Wednesday 27th February.

The event, staged at Grosvenor, featured six other teams from such schools as Aquinas Grammar, Hunterhouse College, Victoria College and Hazelwood College and produced a number of tightly fought matches contested in a friendly but competitive spirit.

Success for Grosvenor, who last year won the overall Schools’ cup with victory over Enniskillen Collegiate at Ravenhill, now sees them progress to the Regional Finals in Ballymena on 12th March.

Captain Beth Dawson (Upper 6th) was delighted with the team’s display and is hopeful that the girls can ultimately go on to retain their trophy later in the month.

Well done once again to all of the girls involved as well as their coaches Mrs Karen Kirk and Mr Stuart Smyth – we wish them well at Ballymena and, with a bit of luck, Ravenhill later in the season.
