Golf – Boyd Cup Victory

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Ross Nelson, Form Five, who was recently victorious in the highly prestigious Boyd Cup, held at Malone Golf Club earlier in the season.

Ross’ success in the competition, one of the most prestigious junior open championships in Ulster, saw him overcome a very strong field, as well as atrocious weather conditions on the day, to secure a superb victory.  In recognition of his achievement Ross was recently presented with his engraved trophy by representatives from Malone Golf Club.

Ross’ victory in The Boyd Cup is the latest in a long list of achievements over recent seasons, including selection to compete at the prestigious 2014 ‘Home Countries Inter-Club Golf Championships’, held at Antequera Golf Club in Spain last March, following his successful participation as a member of the Belvior Park Golf Club Under 18 Boys’ team, which achieved victory at both the Ulster and All-Ireland Fred Daly Championships during the previous summer.

With the new golf season about to commence Ross, who is now playing off a handicap of 4, is hoping to defend the Boyd Cup and add further honours to his already impressive golfing CV.

Well done to Ross on his latest outstanding achievement – all within Grosvenor are incredibly proud of his success and wish him the best of luck throughout the coming season; with a bit of luck we will hopefully be watching him perform on even more high profile platforms over the years to come.
