Graham Cup Rugby

The morning of Saturday 1st September saw Grosvenor stage the third ‘Graham Cup’ competition as 1st XV rugby teams from Rainey Endowed, Belfast Royal Academy, Banbridge Academy and Wesley College joined the hosts at a keenly contested event.

The competition, sponsored by AM Property Management (NI) Limited, saw the contestant schools play each another once on a league basis over a series of 12 minute each-way matches.

All matches on the day were highly competitive, with most victories being achieved by only one score.  Whilst Grosvenor performed admirably on the day, defeating Banbridge Academy (7-3), drawing with Rainey Endowed (0-0) and losing only narrowly to B.R.A. (7-10) and Wesley College (0-7), the latter ultimately achieved victory in the competition overall - with a tight 7-5 victory over B.R.A. ultimately proving decisive.

Well done to everybody who helped to make Saturday’s competition – named in honour of Grosvenor’s former Head of Sports Studies Mr Ian Graham, such a success.

The School looks forward to welcoming many more talented teams to compete in the ‘Graham Cup’ over future years.
