Grosvenor rolls out The Scarlet carpet for Pro 12 visitors

On the afternoon of Thursday 13th February Grosvenor welcomed the entire squad of players and coaches from Welsh Pro 12 side ‘The Scarlets’ to its pitches to meet a number of its form one pupils and conduct a short training session prior to its scheduled encounter against Ulster at Ravenhill the following evening.

The session was organised at Grosvenor due to the impressive condition of its pitches, where fixtures have been unaffected by the recent period of extreme wet weather.  The entire Scarlets squad took time to meet with and sign autographs for a number of the School’s pupils before commencing their training, following which coaches and players alike commented favourably on the quality of the playing surface.

The Scarlets’ visit is testament to the maintenance of Grosvenor’s pitches which has been conducted by Amey Built Environment and its sub-contracting team this year.  In particular, Senior Groundsman Billy McCormick is to be commended on the excellent job that he has carried out in keeping the pitches playable throughout the season.

In the event, The Scarlets’ fixture against Ulster on the evening of Friday 14th February was postponed due to the flooding of Ravenhill’s pitch – putting the excellent condition of Grosvenor’s pitches into even greater perspective.
