‘Inspire>Aspire’ Nationwide Launch Event

On Thursday 29th November Grosvenor welcomed double Paralympic Gold Medallist Michael McKillop to the School as part of its launch of the nationwide ‘Inspire >Aspire’ Poster Campaign 2013.

The event saw a range of representatives from throughout the U.K. visit the School, where the competition, which provides the opportunity for children aged 11-18 to produce a written/drawn creative poster based on Olympic/Paralympic Values, received its official launch.

‘Inspire>Aspire’ is a unique programme for schools to help make the most of the teaching and learning opportunities from the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Using a special poster template, young people develop a personal plan of action inspired by the Olympic values and the character qualities demonstrated by Olympians and Paralympians.

Grosvenor itself has been participating in the competition for the past five years, and last year achieved notable success, with four pupils being selected to attend the National Finals at The Parliament Buildings, Stormont in June.

All involved in the programme were extremely grateful to Mr McKillop, who secured Gold in the 800 and 1500 metres in the T37 classification at this summer’s London Games, for making the effort to attend.

The best of luck to all of the entrants for the upcoming event and we look forward to the announcement of the 2013 finalists and winners next year.
