Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Erin Caughey who has been selected to represent Ireland’s Under 19 women's rugby sevens team in a series of matches later in the year.

Erin, who has excelled within the Grosvenor girls’ rugby team in recent years, achieved her selection to the Irish squad following a series of trials last May, during which she made it through several cuts to find herself in the final 25 from a initial pool of 200 players.  This was followed by training camps every weekend, with three training sessions per day, following which Erin made the cut to the final sixteen, and then twelve, after numerous fitness tests and high-intensity training sessions.

Erin has already represented Ireland at the 2013 U.K. School Games, which took place last September, in which her team was unfortunate to go out on drop-kicks at the semi-final stage.  The Irish team has already been invited back to this year’s U.K. School Games but, before that, is set to compete in a series of fixtures against the likes of France and Holland, training for which begins in March.

Well done to Erin on her recent successes and we wish her the best of luck in her upcoming international fixtures.
