‘Junior and Under 23 World Canoeing Championships’ 2015

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s star canoeist Alistair McCreery, Lower Sixth, who was recently informed of his selection to represent Ireland at the upcoming ‘Junior and Under 23 World Canoeing Championships’, due to be held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, from 22nd -26th April 2015.

Alistair’s selection for this prestigious global event was secured following his participation in a qualification competition on Nottingham’s River Trent last November, where his second-placed finish over the two days of competition helped to guarantee him one of the three spots available.

For Alistair. who trains locally at Shaw’s Bridge as well as regularly in Nottingham, and who recently achieved a second-placed finish at the province-wide ‘Shaw’s Bridge Domestic Race’ in early February, his selection to compete in Brazil represents a huge achievement, and one of which all at Grosvenor are extremely proud.

Well done to Alistair on his superb achievement and we look forward to following his fortunes at the World Championships, as well as at various other competitions throughout the season, over the remainder of the season.
