Junior Certificate Ceremony

The morning of Thursday 21st June saw Grosvenor welcome Olympic Gold Medalist Jimmy Kirkwood as guest speaker at its annual Junior Certificate Prize giving Ceremony, held in the William Moles Hall.

The ceremony provides an opportunity to celebrate academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular success amongst pupils in Forms 1 – 3 within the School.  As well as each member of Form Three receiving their Junior Certificates in recognition of their achievements in the end-of-year summer examinations, notable awards were also distributed in recognition of pupils’ achievements in the fields of, amongst others, Sport, Drama, Charity, the Environment and Home Economics.

This year’s ceremony offered the opportunity to recognize such achievements as Gareth Reid’s runner-up placing in the Young Engineer for Britain competition, as well as Tom O’Neill’s victory in the Key Stage 4 victory of the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland Young Cook of the Year competition.

The ceremony marked the perfect conclusion to another year of fantastic success within the School, with 1988 Olympic Hockey Gold Medalist Mr Kirkwood proving a welcome and entertaining speaker in this, another Olympic year.

Well done to those whose achievements were recognised at this event, as well as Mrs Jane Caulfield who ensured that the event ran with precision throughout.
