Junior Certificate Prize-giving Ceremony 2014

The morning of Tuesday 24th June saw Grosvenor Grammar School stage one of the highlights of its yearly calendar in the form of its annual Junior Certificate Prize-giving Ceremony, held for all pupils in forms 1 – 3 in its William Moles Hall.

The ceremony provides an opportunity to celebrate academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular success amongst pupils in Forms 1 – 3 within the School.  As well as each member of Form Three receiving their Junior Certificates in recognition of their achievements in the end-of-year summer examinations, notable awards were also distributed in recognition of pupils’ achievements in the fields of, amongst others: Sport, Drama, Charity, the Environment and Home Economics.

This year’s ceremony offered the opportunity to recognize a number of significant achievements within the School, as evidenced by Aaron Harrison (3V) receiving the ‘Ulster Junior Boys’ Athletics Cup’ on behalf of the Junior Boys’ athletics team, Maya Finch (3S) picking up the ‘Best Kept Post Primary School’ Award on behalf of the School as a whole, and Nathan Chan (3S) collecting the Irish Junior Boys’ Relay Cup, representing the Junior Boys’ 4x100 metres relay team.

Following an informative speech from the School’s Principal Mr Robin McLoughlin, which provided a detailed overview of the extensive achievements within junior school over the past year, the ceremony was concluded with an engaging and inspirational talk from Guest of Honor Mr Ernie Long, Principal of Orangefield Primary School, who captivated all in attendance with tales of his own time as a Grosvenor pupil - in the days of Grosvenor High School, as well as offering advice regarding future career paths and the importance of achieving long-term academic success.

Well done to all of those pupils whose achievements were recognized at this year’s event and the School looks forward to celebrating further Junior School success in June 2015.
