Junior Home International Orienteering Event

Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Paul Pruzina, Lower 6th, who recently achieved selection to compete at the elite Junior Home Internationals Orienteering Event 2013.

The competition, held in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales, saw Paul finish twelfth in the individual event, held in Mynydd Llangatwg – a large and featureless area with little or nothing to navigate by, on day one.  This was followed by the relay on day two, held at Clydach Terrace – a mountainous, sand-dune like terrain in which the Irish team were disqualified following an error by the second leg runner, despite Paul’s first leg putting the team into an impressive 9th position.

On the whole Paul is to be congratulated on his participation at this high-class competition, in which the Ireland team finished just one point behind bronze medalists Wales.

Everybody at Grosvenor wishes Paul the best of luck over the remainder of the orienteering season and beyond.
